Most of our fall trips to the Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Garden are hot and sticky. It usually feels like mid-August would in Illinois which is a strange juxtaposition to the Autumn at the Arboretum Event that we go to see. However, this year the day we picked to go was one of the most beautiful days we had experienced in Texas.
Pumpkin patches in Texas aren't quite the same as they are in Illinois, so we take the kids each year (this is our 4th year) to the "pumpkin village". The theme of the display is different every year and this year was "the art of the pumpkin" which resulted in sprawling, beautiful patterns made with pumpkins that surrounded the pumpkin structures.
There were far more people there than I had anticipated in the COVID-era that we are currently in. I suppose they had the same idea as we did and were trying to make the most of the first beautiful day that truly felt like fall. Matt and I were actually very aware of the fact that we hadn't been in such a large crowd of people since March and it felt very weird.
After taking in the pumpkin display, we made our way to the lawn for a snack picnic and for Hudson to work on his nature notebook. The kids were excited to see that live music was getting ready to begin; Eleanor danced while Hudson drew scenery. I highly recommend bringing snacks, drinks, and a blanket because there are lots of places to spread out in the shade and enjoy people-watching or bird watching.
We really enjoy visiting the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden and find something new to love each time we go. This time, in particular, the kids loved sticking their hands in the water features and eating fresh popcorn. We try to take all of our visitors and love the Christmas display as well. I hope we can get back for the Christmas display this year too.
Yours, because we are His,
Jenna
